Counterdrug

CAP joined the “war on drugs” in 1986 when, pursuant to congressional authorization, CAP signed an agreement with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Customs Service offering CAP resources to help stem the flow of drugs into and within the United States.  Bexar County Senior Squadron directly supports this mission with personnel and resources under the direction of Group 5 and Texas Wing.

To become CD qualified, you must:

  1. Be a member in good standing with 2 years service in CAP
    • Service can be discontinuous
    • Service as a cadet may be used to satisfy this requirement
  2. Be qualified and current in an ES qualification relevant to the CD program
    • Incident Commander
    • Flight Release Officer
    • Mission Pilot (instrument rating preferred, but not required)
    • Mission Observer
    • Mission Scanner
    • Transport Mission Pilot
    • Mission Radio Operator
  3. Review and become familiar with CAPR 60-6
  4. Submit a signed CD application to the SWR-TX-424/DO
  5. Complete the CAP CD orientation course
    • note: this course may only be completed after the screening process is completed successfully.  This process can take several weeks.
